Bengaluru: A 26-year-old woman’s dismembered body was discovered in an apartment in Bengaluru’s Vyalikaval, stored in a refrigerator, according to local authorities. The gruesome scene was uncovered after neighbors reported a foul odor emanating from the residence, prompting them to alert the police.
Police suspect that the body had been in the fridge for an extended period. Additional Commissioner of Police (West), Satish Kumar, confirmed the victim’s identity but stated that further details would be revealed following the initial investigation. “The woman had been residing in Bengaluru but was originally from another state,” Mr. Kumar said.
A dog squad, a fingerprint team, and forensic experts have been brought in to secure the crime scene. According to Mr. Kumar, “It’s a one-bedroom house under the jurisdiction of Vyalikaval police. The body was found dismembered and stored in a refrigerator. We believe the crime didn’t happen today, but we will confirm more after the investigation.”
The apartment’s 165-litre refrigerator was still running when officers arrived, with maggots already present on the body, according to reports from IANS.
This case bears a resemblance to the tragic 2022 Delhi murder of Shraddha Walkar, who was killed and dismembered by her partner, Aaftab Amin Poonawala, in a similarly gruesome manner.
